On Saturday 14th September, Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team member Steven Eastwood completed the FACEY FIFTY Cycling Challenge which consists of 50 difficult climbs all located on our doorstep within the Holme and Colne valleys. The climbs feature in a book written by local cyclist Richard (Dick) Facey titled ‘The Only Way is Up’.
In total, Steve rode 339km (210 miles) and climbed an elevation of approx. 9000m (30,000ft). This is the equivalent of riding to London while ascending more than the height of Mount Everest.
Steve carried out this huge challenge to raise funds for the team. If you would like to donate to show your support you can still do so at https://tinyurl.com/faceyfifty
