Summary of call outs April to June 2025

Members of the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team carrying a casualty on a stretcher along a moorland path, wearing red jackets and helmets, with a reservoir and hills visible in the background.

April to June 2025 was a slightly unusual period for the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, with a higher than normal number of call outs to assist neighbouring teams.

Overall we had:

  • 7 call outs to support the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with casualties in difficult-to-access locations. These jobs were a mix of us helping YAS crews to evacuate patients and jobs where our team medics treated patients directly.
  • 2 call outs from West Yorkshire Police for high-risk missing person searches.
  • 5 call outs to assist other teams – these being Woodhead, Calder Valley, and Oldham Mountain Rescue teams.
