November and December saw ten call outs for the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, including a Christmas Eve search for a missing person in Huddersfield.
3rd November: The team was called by West Yorkshire Police to search for a high-risk missing person in Dewsbury. The missing person was located by police as the initial search segments were being allocated.
13th November: An unusual call out for the team, where we were tasked by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with the evacuation of an injured snowboarder from the indoor slope at Snozone, Castleford.
17th - 18th November: A search for a high-risk missing person in the Shaw Cross area, near Dewsbury.
29th November: At dusk, West Yorkshire Police tasked the team to locate a missing walker in the Black Hill area. The walker was found successfully and escorted off the hill.
5th December: The Yorkshire Ambulance Service requested assistance to locate and evacuate a 45-year-old walker who had collapsed in woods near Meltham.
11th December: A request from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to help locate a casualty in the Linthwaite area.
21st December: Holme Valley MRT was asked to assist our neighbouring team, Scarborough and Ryedale MRT, with a search callout in the South Kirkby area. The missing person was located by police soon after the callout came in.
24th December: The team spent Christmas Eve morning searching for a missing person in the Lockwood area of Huddersfield. The person was located by the team.
30th December: Our final call out of the year, our 53rd incident in total, was to treat and evacuate a walker in the Castle Hill area. She had fallen and suffered a lower leg injury.
