At about 16:30 on 8th July, HVMRT was mobilised to support Oldham Mountain Rescue Team and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service with an outbreak of moorland fire above Dowry Reservoir.
The fire service worked throughout the afternoon and evening to contain the fire, with Mountain Rescue Teams providing welfare and medical support as well as logistical assistance, moving hoses, pumps and equipment across the moor. The team stood down at midnight when all fire crews had descended from the moor.
