How to support the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team

The Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, as with all UK mountain rescue teams, is a charity supported by donations and receives no direct funding from any official source.

The team’s annual running costs are approximately £50,000. This covers maintenance and running-costs of a headquarters building; upkeep, depreciation and running costs of three specialist vehicles; the routine replacement of many items of specialist rescue and medical equipment and insurance and training costs.

In order to foot the bill, the team organises its own fundraising events and activities and actively fundraises in the community.

Yorkshire West Riding Freemasons

In the Summer of 2023 we hosted members of the Yorkshire West Riding Freemasons for an official ‘thank you’ to the organisation for providing a £30,000 grant towards the purchase of a new team vehicle.

The grant came from the West Riding Masonic Charities Community Fund and was sponsored by Holme Valley Lodge No. 652.

The grant went towards the purchase of a brand-new Isuzu DMAX Double Cab and its conversion by Burnley-based Pickup Systems into a full-specification emergency response vehicle.

As well as the grant from the Yorkshire West Riding Freemasons, we received many other generous donations as part of a fund-raising campaign: all of which we are very grateful for.

The new vehicle, termed Mobile 1, replaces the team’s original Mobile 1 vehicle, a well-used 20-year old Land Rover Defender, which was retired in May.
