Ex-casualty takes part in fundraising event for HVMRT

Last April the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue team rescued Tom Howard, a mountain biker who had had an accident in woods near Meltham. Now Tom is taking part in an event to raise funds for the team.

Tom and friends Jack Slater, Matt Lander, and Adam Shields have entered the Spartan Race UK – Beast, a 21km trail run with 30 obstacles, which will take place on 29th June 2024. The race organisers say that the race is ‘notorious around the world for its degree of difficulty’.

You can support Tom’s efforts via his JustGiving page.

Tom told us:

We really hope people will get behind us and help support the vital role the HVMRT plays in our area.  The service the team provides can quite literally mean life or death for anyone who gets injured or ends up in difficulty in remote areas. I am also pleased to be taking part in this event as a thank you to the team for assisting the paramedics in helping me following a mountain bike accident last spring. All donations will be massively appreciated! Thank you
