Blackhill Callout

The team was called out to assist a walker lost on Black Hill. Initially the walker was in touch with Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team who tried to talk him off the hill by phone.

Phone signal proved poor and an "old style" phone meant a Sarloc Rescue location was not possible. HVMRT was then called and dispatched two fell parties to the location the walker thought he was at, but no find was made.

Upon widening the search, Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were requested to attend from their side of the hill, and a helicopter from NPAS Barton overflew. The walker was located and evacuated by helicopter back to Holme Moss summit where he was assessed by HVMRT and given a lift back to his lodgings.
