Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team were called in at 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon to assist with the search for a 44 year old man missing from his home in Leeds.
The volunteer team were tasked by West Yorkshire Police with searching hedgerows, woodland and open countryside east of Leeds after the man failed to return home on Saturday. Continue reading

The Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team has spent a busy weekend helping to ensure two major local events took place safely and successfully. This weekend saw the team provide rescue cover for both the Wakefield Hospice Sponsored Walk and the 21st annual Holme Valley Mountain Bike Challenge. Continue reading
HVMRT member John Hodgson has completed a 1,957 mile ‘End to End’ sponsored motorbike ride to raise money for the team. John rode his 1981 Honda CX 500 bike from Marsden to John O’Groats before proceeding to Land’s End, returning to Marsden to complete the trip.
HVMRT is raising money to purchase the Marsden Fire Station so that we can make it our permanent headquarters. The team was called out on the evening of Friday 19th July to search for a missing elderly man in Wakefield. We searched a large local park and continued until 3.30am Saturday morning. Continue reading
